Key initiatives include:

  1. 50 per cent reduction in taxi fares and driver licensing fees for People of Determination

  2. Exemption of People of Determination from Salik toll fees, parking charges, public transport fares, and vehicle registration and renewal fees

  3. Discounted public transport fares for senior Emiratis and students

  4. Vehicle registration and renewal fee exemptions for people of determination

The move is part of a broader government effort to enhance family well-being and reduce the daily burdens of urban mobility. The programme aligns with the UAE’s National Family Growth Agenda 2031, which emphasises supporting families as a cornerstone of social development.

RTA Director-General Mattar Al Tayer said the partnership reflects the authority’s commitment to integrating social policy into urban transport planning. “We aim to provide a safe, accessible, and inclusive transport system that addresses the needs of all segments of society, reduces daily challenges for families, and enhances the overall quality of life,” he said.

In addition to transport discounts, the RTA is rolling out complementary initiatives to support families and employees. A mobile nursery service has been introduced for female employees, using refurbished public buses equipped with educational and recreational facilities for children during working hours.

Dedicated spaces at public transport stations will allow families to showcase home-based businesses, helping them reach a wider audience.

Special nol cards have been issued to mark the Year of Family, highlighting the culture and values of Emirati families.

The authority has also organised a mass wedding for Emirati employees, supporting family growth and cohesion.

The agreement demonstrates Dubai’s continued focus on family-centric urban planning, ensuring that public transport and infrastructure cater to the needs of all residents while promoting social cohesion and sustainable city living.
