Soon, motorists can use the balance in their Salik e-wallet to pay for fuel in select petrol stations across Dubai.

This comes following the signing on Thursday, May 8, of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Salik Company PJSC (Salik), Dubai’s exclusive toll gate operator, and Enoc Group.

Under the agreement, Salik and Enoc customers will enjoy integrated payment options for fuelling and other services across Enoc Group’s network of service stations and retail locations. This means there’s an option not to pay in cash or with a card for any purchase at Enoc petrol stations as the transaction value will be automatically deducted from the customer’s balance in their Salik e-wallet.

How it works

The payment option will use cameras with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. “This is the same technology currently at more than 25 parking locations — and soon expanding to 127 other locations,” Salik said in a statement sent to Khaleej Times.

Seamless payments are powered by Salik’s e-wallet, and already used to pay parking fees at key destinations such as Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina Mall, Souq Al Bahar, Dubai Harbor, Miracle Garden, Marina Walk, and more.

“Our collaboration with Enoc supports Salik’s broader strategy to drive digital transformation across the transportation and services sector,” said Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEO of Salik, which introduced in January this year the variable tolling system.

“(We) aim to enhance convenience for customers and road users. This partnership reinforces our commitment to delivering advanced technologies that simplify transactions, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen Salik’s position as a key enabler of sustainable and intelligent mobility solutions across Dubai,” he added.

Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of Enoc, for his part, said: “We aim to provide a seamless and convenient payment experience for our customers, while also exploring new opportunities to add value and strengthen our market position. We are confident that this partnership will deliver tangible results for both parties and our valued customers.”

The MoU also outlines a framework for joint marketing campaigns and technical integration with scope to expand Salik-powered services across the wider Enoc station network.
