Carrying your e-scooter on public transport comes with certain safety rules. You have to ensure your own safety and comfort, as well as that of fellow passengers, while taking your e-scooter on a bus or on the Dubai Metro.

Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has reminded residents using e-scooters about certain dos and don'ts while taking them on public transport.

Here's what you need to keep in mind:

1. Only e-cooters under 120x70x120 cm may board public transport vehicles.

2. E-scooters are not allowed on intercity coach buses

3. The total number of scooters shall not exceed two at any point during the journey

4. Scooters must be clean, dry and folded when boarding

5. Always use the wide door to load/unload your e-scooter

6. Store your scooter in the designated area only

7. Secure it with straps at approved anchor points

8. Ensure the scooter is fully immobilised during the journey

Electric scooters are a popular form of transportation in the city, allowing for a comfortable, open-air ride. The use of electric scooters is limited to individuals who are 16 years or older. Users must bear in mind a few rider safety guidelines while using them.

There are also fines for failure to abide by rules, like Dh300 for carrying a passenger on the e-scooter.
