Trailer carrying crane damages Al Khan Bridge
A trailer carrying a crane yesterday got stuck under the Al Khan Bridge in Sharjah
Causing severe damage to the bridge and resulting in a traffic jam for almost three hours.
The right lane of the bridge that leads to Dubai had to be closed temporarily until the repair work was carried out, a police source said.
If the repair were not carried out, it would have posed danger for motorists, the police source added.
The trailer, meant for transporting cars, was carrying a crane the height of which was more than the prescribed limit on the route, police said. The trailer belongs to transporting company. Police blamed the accident on the 29-year-old Afghani driver’s lack of attention and recklessness.
