A group of school and university students received professional and functional knowledge that will help them to get involved in their future careers as part of a summer programme in Sharjah.
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently concluded its summer training programme called 'Starting With You'. The programme, which is one of the initiatives of the Sharjah Training and Development Centre, was attended by 20 students.
The SCCI hosted the students for two months to learn about the roles played by its staff in all its departments, as well as their participation in the work under administrative and organisational supervision prepared for the programme.
Mohammed Ahmed Amin, assistant director-general for communication and business sector at the SCCI, stated that organising the programme was one of SCCI's initiatives aimed to create an environment suitable for school and university students to learn about the field of work, gain practical knowledge and experience through enhancing their skills and abilities to accomplish the tasks to the fullest.
Amin explained that the chamber is keen to organise the programme annually to enhance its role and practices as a socially responsible institution. He also pointed out the importance of the programme in contributing to the preparation of generations responsible, aware and have a prior conception of the nature of the institutional work with its requirements, commitments and has a preliminary knowledge of the labour market and the business community, by engaging them in the different departments of the chamber to introduce them to the role of the SCCI and its responsibilities assigned to serve the economy of the emirate and its business community.
At the end of the programme, the SCCI honoured the students who participated in the programme this summer. The students also expressed their appreciation to the SCCI for launching the initiative which allowed them to practise different types of careers and learn about practical life in a realistic way.
