Student requests leniency in driving suspension

A daily commute from Al Dhafra to Dubai for classes forced him to drive again.

Al Dhafra Traffic Court heard the case of an Emirati student accused of driving a car without a licence.
The young man, caught driving after his licence was temporarily suspended, told the court he violated the law because he desperately needed a car to travel from Al Dhafra to Dubai for his daily lectures. 
Official court documents stated that the police had caught him driving recklessly on one of the roads in Al Dhafra area of Abu Dhabi. He was sentenced to a six month suspension banning him from driving.
A few weeks later, the young man went behind the wheel once more. 
Police caught him and he was taken to traffic court. 
"I'm really sorry I violated the traffic rules by driving a car after my licence had been taken away from me," the Emirati told court.
" I desperately needed to drive because I travel daily to Dubai to attend classes at the university. I didn't want to miss classes and no one could take me to Dubai daily." 
He pleaded for leniency and requested a or a lesser sentence because it was his first time to be brought to traffic court for violating laws.
He also asked the court to reduce the six-month ban on his licence so he can attend his classes.
The trial adjourned till February 14 for the ruling.
