A student received minor injuries in an accident involving two school buses in Kalba on Sunday morning. The student was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The two buses were were on their way to the schools when the accident took place.
According to police official at Kalab Police Station, the first bus - carrying 10 students hit the second bus - carrying 25 students when the latter tried to merge with the main road. The driver of one of the buses carrying 25 entered the main road from an internal road without ensuring the safety on the road.
An official said that the police station received the call at 7am Sunday morning and immediately dispatched team of ambulance, rescue units, patrol and traffic experts. The team reached the spot along with Sharjah Civil Defence firefighters and took the injured student to the hospital. The police managed to take other students to their schools to continue their academic day.
The Sharjah police has urged school bus drivers to exercise caution, pay attention to the road and avoid distractions. All drivers should make sure the main road is clear before merging from feeder roads, they concluded.
