An Asian boy has received serious injuries after a speeding car ran over him as he crossed the road. The incident happened at Sharjah's Al Nahda area.
The central operations room of the Sharjah police, alerted about the traffic accident, immediately dispatched traffic patrols, ambulances, paramedics, and rescue teams to the site.
Informed sources with the Sharjah police said that the boy is 16 years of age.
He was rushed to the emergency department of the Al Qasimi hospital.
The enactment of the accident and police investigations show that the vehicle involved was speeding.
"The erring driver escaped the scene without offering help or calling the ambulance to rescue the injured boy."
The boy had an urgent operation to fix his fractured shoulder, they explained. "He was then shifted to the intensive care unit for treatment and medical care."
Investigations are underway to identify the vehicle involved in the accident and track down the erring driver.
