Six warehouses gutted in Ajman fire
Six warehouses in Ajman were gutted in a fire in the early hours of Wednesday, the emirate's Civil Defence team said. No casualties have been reported.
The fire was reported this morning at 2.13am in Ajman's new industrial area, according to a top civil defence official.
Owned by one company, the small warehouses were found to be completely attached to each other. The blaze started in one warehouse, quickly spreading to the others because of the strong wind at the time, the Ajman Civil Defence said.
As soon as they were alerted to the incident, firefighters were dispatched, reaching the site in less than seven minutes. By 3.27am, the fire was put under control and the cooling operation was completed by 8am.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The site has been handed over to the police for investigation.
Brig Mohamed Ali Jumeirah, director of fire stations department, who supervised the operation, urged owners of industrial and commercial establishments to strictly adhere to fire safety regulations.
