As it turned out, a Pakistani film crew decided to shoot a dance sequence for their forthcoming Pashto-language movie Tiger on the location, providing much amusement to everyone present.
The Pakistani stars seemingly had a good time too, with the crowd cheering them for each successful takes and seeking autographs in between. The actors merrily obliged the fans and there were warm rounds of interaction during the occasional intermissions.
For actor Arbaaz Khan (not to be confused by his Bollywood namesake), who’s playing the lead role in the movie, shooting in Dubai is almost like being at home. “It’s just a couple of hours flight from Pakistan. Moreover, I have family here. My sister stays in Dubai,” he said, while speaking to Khaleej Times.
Elaborating on the advantages of Dubai, choreographer Nigah Hussain went a step ahead. “Dubai is extremely beautiful with its awe-inspiring skyline, which can give New York a run for its worth. The beaches here are no less appealing than the Miami beach. Besides, the crowd is encouraging and good-humoured. All these aspects make Dubai a wonderful film locale,” he said. However, actress Sidra Noor, having enthralled the audience at Ghubaiba with her dance performance, seemed visibly tired. “She’s shooting in Dubai for the first time and is not used to the weather,” informed her spokesperson and beautician, Ali.
Fans in Dubai still have a chance to catch up with the crew as they are in the city for the next 20 days.
“Eighty per cent of the shooting of the film is being done here since the story is set in the backdrop of Dubai,” explained the director, Liaquat Ali Khan.
“Dubai has become a city of dreams for many in Pakistan and in the sub-continent. Tiger deals with the aspirations of a young Pakistani who wants to make it big in Dubai,” Liaquat added.
