His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday announced allocation of Dh5.8 billion for energy and water projects in the northern emirates.

The Dubai Ruler also approved the construction of water dams and a federal water network linking the northern emirates to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Construction of a solar power station and a plant to desalinate 150 million gallons of water for Umm Al Quwain in the next two years were also approved.
