Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan on Friday called on UAE residents to "reflect on the resolve, unity and solidarity" as the nation marks January 17.

On January 17 each year, we reflect on the resolve, unity and solidarity shown by the people of the UAE – standing proudly behind their national flag to safeguard the country’s achievements and uphold its global standing," Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also serves as UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, wrote in social media platform X.

Sheikh Hamdan also invited the residents to tune in to national media channels on Saturday (January 17) at 11am for the broadcast of the UAE national anthem.

"We invite everyone across the UAE to follow our national media channels, which will broadcast the national anthem at 11am tomorrow, Saturday, as we renew our pledge and determination to continue advancing and elevating our beloved country."

For the UAE, January 17 is a day of "strength, resilience, and solidarity", President Sheikh Mohamed said in a post on X on January 17, 2025 — exactly three years since Yemen's Houthi rebels attacked the country.

On this day in 2022, the Houthis targeted the Musaffah ICAD 3 area and a construction area at Abu Dhabi International Airport, both of which are civilian infrastructure. The attacks, which led to the explosion of three petroleum tankers, killed three civilians and injured six others. The Houthis confirmed responsibility for the attacks.
