A traveller who lost his mobile phone at the Sharjah airport managed to get it back just three hours after arriving in his home country - thanks to the efforts of the emirate's police.
A top Sharjah Police official learnt about the man's lost phone when the latter sent a message to a government entity via social media.
As soon as the authorities were informed of the traveller's concern, they started a search and managed to find it in a couple of hours. Then, the phone was promptly sent to the owner overseas.
"Sharjah Police officers are always ready to provide assistance to everyone, doing our best to extend help wherever it's needed. This falls in line with strategies in place, as well as the values and ideals of the leadership," an official told Khaleej Times.
Though the cops who found the phone were not looking for any reward in return, the police leadership surprised them with an appreciation ceremony, as well as medals and certificates.
