A two-year-old girl, who fell to death from her eighth-floor family apartment in Al Majaz 2, was left unattended in the hall for mere minutes as her mother went to the washroom, investigations have revealed. The Syrian parents have been charged with negligence as the window in the hall was left open. The police said the toddler climbed a sofa near the window and fell as she peeped out.

The case has been referred to the public prosecution.
According to the police, the mother said she usually never left her child unattended. On the fateful day (Monday), as she stepped out of the washroom around 3pm, she could not find her little one in the hall where she had left her. Fearing the worst on seeing the window in the hall open, she looked outside to see commotion on the ground below. "She rushed down and found her daughter motionless. She insisted on rushing the baby to Al Qassimi Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead after failing to revive her," a police official said.
The girl was laid to rest in Sharjah.
