Sheikh Sultan announces 1,000 new jobs for Emirati jobseekers

Sharjah - Some of the job seekers specialised in non-attractive fields and they will be helped by government to get qualifications that suits the job market.

Over 1,000 new jobs will be generated to cater to Emiratis seeking employment, the Sharjah Ruler has said.
His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, said the government has received 12,000 job applications from Emirati men and women this year, including hundreds who have completed the National Service programme.
"We have received job applications from 400 young men and women who have completed the military service. We hope to take half or all of them after the summer holiday," said Sheikh Sultan.
He said some of the job seekers specialised in non-attractive fields and they will be helped by government to get qualifications that suits the job market. "We will offer them diploma courses so that they suit the job market. Also, we shall be giving them salaries during their course of study."
Sheikh Sultan said the government has a programme where Emiratis can obtain a diploma in education so they can become teachers of Arabic language, the Holy Quran, Islamic religious studies and others.
Paid diploma for holders of 'unwanted specialties'
"Some graduates need to be qualified to meet the jobs needed in the labour market. Graduates of Arabic language and Holy Quran, for example, cannot find a job under the name 'Arabic language'," said Sheikh Sultan. "He can be an Arabic language teacher or an employee needed for a job related to Arabic language."
There is a special programme to qualify the holders of these 'unwanted' majors, he added. "They can obtain a diploma to enhance skills. But, it is not possible to ask them to take a one-year diploma in education. We are ready to give them salary during their study so that they can lead a stable life. I believe this is a better way to address 'unwanted disciplines in education."
