It's easy to buy a bus for VIPs straight from the market, but the Sharjah Municipality opted to be creative: They turned an ordinary bus into a luxurious vehicle - complete with premium upholstery and ambient lighting.
This special bus shall be used to transport VIPs and top officials during events or project inspections across the emirate.
Hamid Al Banna, director of transport department, said the bus was designed by a team of 22 employees, headed by engineer Mohamed Ibrahim and Ghulam Ahmed.
Several specifications were changed, including the exteriors that have been repainted and remodelled to create an elegant look.
Nine seats taken from old vehicles were reupholstered and added to the bus. The interior roof of the vehicle was changed and distinctive lighting was installed.
Thabit Salem Al Tarifi, general director of the Sharjah Municipality, said this unique project shows the civic body's commitment to making the most of its tools and resources.
By transforming an ordinary bus into a world-class vehicle, the municipality was able to create a technical masterpiece, and at the same time promote the culture of creativity, innovation and sustainability among its employees, Al Tarifi said.
