Indian parents and Sharjah residents Bindu Santosh and Santosh Rajan have appealed to UAE residents for help in finding their missing son.
Ameya Santosh, a 15-year-old student with an Indian curriculum private school in Sharjah, has been missing for over 24-hours after his father dropped him for extra lessons to a private tutor in Abu Shagara, Sharjah.
The Grade 10 student has not been in contact with friends or family since. "I dropped him off for classes at 10.15 am on Friday, November 22. Two hours later, at noon, his tutor messaged to inform that he never turned up for classes. We have been looking for him everywhere ever since," said his father, Santosh Rajan.
Ameya was last seen in a parrot-green t-shirt, navy blue three-fourth pants, and a black backpack. "He has a black thread around his wrist. I doubt he has anything more than Dh 10 with him," said his mother, Bindu. Ameya was carrying a mobile phone, but it has been switched off since his disappearance.
The parents suspect Ameya suffers from 'exam phobia', was under a lot of stress over his upcoming board examinations. "He has a science examination on Sunday. He was very stressed out about it. Also, he has been very stressed about the upcoming CBSE board examinations, and he feels he is not well prepared," added Bindu.
The parents have been driving all over Sharjah and Dubai looking for Ameya. The family has also filed a complaint with Sharjah Police, who are said to be cooperating with the family to find him. "We are anxiously waiting for him to come home. It is cold, he doesn't have any money, and I don't know where he would've slept last night. He has never been away from us," said a very stressed Bindu, who hopes the media attention would force him to return home as soon as possible.
