Missing for a total of 15 days, the case of Indian teenager Mohammed Perwez's had sent shockwaves throughout the country. As he finally returned home to his family at 3am on July 19, not a single person in the Alam household could hold back their tears.
Walking back into their apartment building in Muweilah, a visibly guilty Perwez told Khaleej Times, "I missed my family when I was gone." He promised, "I won't do it again."
Missing since July 4, Sharjah Police, with support from police authorities in Ajman, found the boy as he was walking about aimlessly in a residential area in Ajman.  The 15-year-old who reportedly snuck out of his home in Muweilah, after his mother chided him for watching Hindi action-adventure serials on YouTube late into the night. Perwez's grandfather, uncle Mohameed Firoz Alam, hugged Perwez tight, and cried in gratitude.

Perwez's mother, Tusi Parveen, hardly being able to hold tears of excitement in getting her son back said, "I want to thank Khaleej Times for everything. It would not have been possible without you. We are so grateful to Allah for bringing him back. Thank you. thank you so much."  His sister Sana Anjum (12), Asiya Aftab (8), and Alsafa Aftab (6) said, "We are so happy Parwez bhaiya is back."
How Perwez was found
Sharjah Police spokesperson Captain Ahmed Al Hammadi said the boy had been identified by locals while he was walking about aimlessly in a residential area in Ajman. They immediately informed the Ajman Police about the location of the boy and also provided them with a picture.
The Ajman Police rushed to the location and managed to find the boy. They then informed the Sharjah Police station where the missing report had been filed. Sharjah Police officials then informed the parents and then went to take custody of the boy.
Al Hammadi pointed out that police had intensified efforts to find the missing boy with each passing day, ever since he had gone missing on July 4. They circulated his pictures and relevant information among all police departments in the country. They combed mosques, malls, hospitals and streets across the emirate.
Police are now trying to find out why the boy had run away from his home.
