Parents said they were overjoyed to receive their babies on this unique day.

A hospital in Sharjah welcomed 25 bundles of joy on what it said many couples called a special date due to the play of numbers - 20/02/2020.

Doctors at Al Zahra Hospital Sharjah had an unusually busy Thursday on February 20, as every few minutes there was a call for delivery from the maternity wards.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Dr Mohammad Al Hasoun, specialist obstetrics and gynaecologist, said that several couples had approached the hospital and asked to book their delivery date for 20/02/2020 due to the play of the numbers 2 and 0.

Many women even said that they felt this would be a lucky day and requested us to induce labour for delivery so they could have their child's birthday on this day."
Dr Hasoun said all the newborns were Arabs - from the UAE, Syria, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan.

Parents said they were overjoyed to receive their babies on this unique day.

Emirati parents Hassan Ibrahim and Saleha Mohammed Al Ali considered themselves even more lucky as their baby girl Shamsa was the 20th baby to be born at Al Zahra on February 20, 2020.

An excited Ibrahim said: "It is a beautiful thing to receive our newborn child on this special day. I will treasure this beautiful memory and the special coincidence forever. We hope that good luck will always accompany her."

Another happy Emirati couple Rashed Al Harmodi and Fayzah Al Harmodi were thrilled to have their son Sultan born on the unique date. Al Harmodi said: "The medical and nursing staff at Al Zahra Hospital Sharjah were wonderful, and we would like to thank them for safely delivering our precious gift."

Doctors said that around 18 of the babies were born through a C-section and the rest through normal delivery. "All the babies are in good health and had normal weight. In fact, one of the babies weighed 5.7kg," Dr Hasoun said.

Dr Kishan Pakkal, general manager of the hospital, said the staff washappy to contribute to the joy of the families on this special day.

"Giving birth is a happy occasion, but the arrival of newborns on this day is very special and will not be repeated for years to come. We give all the families of the newborns our best wishes for a long and prosperous life," he said.
