In line with Sharjah's trend in using environmentally friendly means of transport, the Sharjah Police has introduced cycle patrols.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Lt Colonel Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naoor, Deputy Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, the cycle patrols will be used in regulating traffic flow at schools, parades, and festivals in Sharjah.
Manufactured by BMW, the new cycle patrols will be fully equipped with advanced technologies, including wireless devices and sophisticated cameras.

He explained that new patrols were launched to cover school events in the Majaz area and would be introduced in other areas.

He said that the patrol will also contribute in decreasing emissions and protect the environment to cope with the rapid development in the emirate. The cycle patrols are on a trial phase and will be expanded and developed if it proves its efficiency. 
It can be used in parks and entertainment areas that are crowded with women, children and people with special needs. It can be used in accompanying any parade, carnival or other event organised in the city.
