The Sharjah Municipality is offering free firewood to Emiratis, which will help prevent the random cutting of trees. The logs can be used for camping in the desert or Emiratis’ farms.
The initiative, dubbed ‘Your firewood is on us’, will help protect the environment, the municipality said.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, an official said beneficiaries must be Emiratis. They are entitled to two loads and must make arrangements to transport the logs.
The distribution will happen from 7am to 4pm under strict Covid safety measures. Beneficiaries must wear masks and gloves, and sanitise their tools before loading their wood.
