Authorities in Sharjah arrested a motorcyclist for performing stunts on the road. Police took action after the video was circulated on social media platforms.

The Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police General Command arrested the 20-year-old Arab motorcyclist for violating traffic safety rules and endangering the lives of other road users. Legal measures have been taken against him, the authority said.
Colonel Mohammed Alai Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, said that the motorcyclist violated several rules including driving a vehicle on the road without a licence plate, running a red light, and making changes to the vehicle's engine or chassis without a licence.
Authorities have stated that such violations are punishable by the Traffic Law. Under this law, the motorist can be penalised by a fine of up to Dh3,000, along with 23 traffic points and impounding the vehicle for 90 days. The fine for releasing the impounded vehicle is up to Dh20,000.
Earlier this year, Sharjah Police seized 19 vehicles after drivers performed reckless stunts on the roads.
These violations, which took place in February, included driving in a manner that endangers the lives of the drivers and the lives of other motorists, driving without licence plates, obscuring the vehicle's licence plates, and driving a vehicle that causes noise.
