Shaikh Mohammed visits Giyathi areas

ABU DHABI - General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday paid an inspection visit to Giyathi in the Western Region as part of his keenness to enquire about and follow up conditions of citizens and services provided to them in different cities and towns in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Gen. Shaikh Mohammed met citizens there. He also listened to their views on services delivered to them by the government of Abu Dhabi with the aim of developing their areas to the best standards in terms of living conditions and services in order to catch up with progress witnessed in other parts of the emirate.

Later, Gen. Shaikh Mohammed proceeded to inspect progress of work in various essential services projects. The citizens expressed their extreme delight at meeting Shaikh Mohammed and thanked him for his continuous care and attention to secure decent and stable life for them. Gen. Shaikh Mohammed was accompanied during the tour by Shaikh Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi, secretary-general of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Abdullah Muhair Al Kutbi, director of Shaikh Mohammed’s office, Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, chairman of Health Authority, Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, director-general of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage and Dr Al Tahir Musbh Al Kindi, chairman of the Municipal Council of Western Region.


Gen. Shaikh Mohammed assured the citizens of the firm determination of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to establish infrastructure projects, develop modern road network in the Western Region and all issues concerning citizens in order to provide them and their families with all amenities.

Gen. Shaikh Mohammed also spoke about the policy agenda 2007-08 of the Abu Dhabi Government, which, he said outlines key goals and initiatives across all portfolios of government in the emirate.

He explained that the agenda is an integrated future action plan based on transparency and accurate data and defines the course each department will take to achieve its aspired goals.

Gen. Shaikh Mohammed stressed the importance of maintaining contacts with citizens in all occasions to assess their needs, pointing out to the government of Abu Dhabi’s effort to provide all requirements for development in the emirate. He urged government entities and citizens alike to cooperate for pushing the development wheel ahead in order to achieve a promising socio-economic development and comprehensive development.

Later, Gen. Shaikh Mohammed toured the Abu Rahma School. He instructed the construction of 60 houses for citizens at Bida Al Matawa. Shaikh Mohammed said he was impressed with progress witnessed by Giyathi like the Giyathi City Projects which features 786 villas, commercial centres and housing complex for teachers.

Gen. Shaikh Mohammed instructed officials to closely study and follow up needs of the region in order to develop the city and remove all obstacles forcing delivery of services to the citizens there.

Gen.Shaikh Mohammed also inspected the new low-cost houses in the city and other basic services, including schools, gardens and roads and then headed to the Giyathi Hospital where he toured its various wards and was familiarised with the package of health services delivered to citizens and residents. Gen. Shaikh Mohammed praised Shaikh Khalifa for his instructions that the Giyathi Hospital be replaced with a new modern facility.

At noon yesterday, Gen. Shaikh Mohammed offered Friday prayer at Mubarak bin Qaran Mosque and then attended a luncheon hosted by Mubarak bin Qaran, member of the Abu Dhabi National Consultative Council at his house in honour of him. bin Qaran said he was pleased with the visit of Gen. Shaikh Mohammed to his house.
