The ministry stressed that it doesn't communicate with the public directly.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Mofaic) has warned UAE residents of scammers who use its name and stamp to send out fake messages, letters and e-mails.

On Twitter, the ministry said on Tuesday that it "never communicates with the public directly except through official channels".

It also stressed that it will never request bank account details, payments or money transfers.

"Do not be misled by official-looking stamps or names in letter or emails", the ministry said, calling on the public to be vigilant of such scams.
