The upgrade helps RTA to dynamically adjust trip frequencies and schedules to better match real-time demand

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has unveiled a major upgrade to its Seasonal Marine Transport Network initiative, in a bid to enhance adapting to changes in demand during public holidays and major events taking place in the emirate.
The upgrade includes integrating advanced and flexible scientific and technological systems to optimise services offered to the public.
This initiative, which launches on Friday for the summer season, involves the creation of algorithms designed to analyse and process big data from diverse sources. These algorithms facilitate the development of a flexible operational plan for the network and are scalable for future data analysis of the sector.

By analysing data from passenger volumes, occupancy rates, and revenue figures, RTA can now dynamically adjust trip frequencies and schedules to better match real-time demand.
"This move reflects RTA’s corporate agility and capacity to adapt to the distinct operational dynamics of seasonal service periods," RTA said in a statement.
The authority added that while developing the new system, careful consideration was given to maintaining customer satisfaction while enhancing occupancy rates of marine transport modes and optimising operational efficiency.
The model is designed for seasonal application, with each season evaluated independently.
