Effective Monday, DEWA customers will be able to apply for, renew and cancel their entry, residence and work visas at a special residency office opened at the authority headquarters at Zabeel area.

The initiative followed a memorandum of understanding concluded on Monday between the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said the agreement, which is part of the Authority's policy to achieve government excellence, comes in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

“The new office is to be followed by a package of services that DEWA staff and customers need,” he said.

Major General Mohammad Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA, said the new office is aimed to make residency services more accessible to the public, and save time and efforts.

“The new office shall remain open for the public from Sunday to Thursday, from 7:30am to 8pm,” he said.

Lieutenant Colonel Khalifa Mattar, Assistant Manager for External Offices, said the directorate's 23 external offices play a major role in providing the public, be they Emiratis or residents, with high quality services in line with international standards.

“The directorate spares no effort to serve the biggest amount of customers in Dubai under the slogan “People's Satisfaction is an achievable wish.”

Mariam Al Mutaiwei - Senior Manager-Personnel Management, said several services are to be available for DEWA staff and customers at two separate counters by DEWA main gate, first floor.

“Those include work visas, residence, sponsorship transfer, visa cancellation, as well as typing and Zajil, and many other services,” she said.

“Some representatives from DEWA will also be assigned to facilitate the process of application.”
