The Dubai Police's traffic department and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have chalked out a comprehensive plan to prevent traffic jams on the emirate's roads during the National Day celebrations today.
Necessary arrangements have been made to ensure security during the National Day rallies.
Traffic signal sequences have been changed to suit the expected traffic movements on the day.
The traffic plan includes organising traffic around the Business Bay so as to prevent motorists from parking their vehicles on road shoulders to see the fireworks.
Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director, traffic department, warned that reckless driving will attract a fine of Dh2,000, 12 black points and confiscation of vehicle for 60 days. Motorists caught disturbing peace will be fined Dh500 and their vehicles will be confiscated for 60 days. Motorists caught parking illegally will be fined Dh400 and given four black points.
Failure to adhere to police instructions will result in a Dh400 fine and four black points.
