The police have also issued a visit visa for his family from India.

A 29-year-old farmer in Ras Al Khaimah was out in the field when he suffered a heart attack. Luckily, the police's surveillance camera caught the emergency, prompting the authorities to send a rescue team as soon as possible.

The Ras Al Khaimah Police arrived at the farm in the nick of time, and they managed to rush the Indian resident - Othman Muhammad Othman - to the hospital.

Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, General Commander of the RAK Police, said: "This is part of our duty in line with the Year of Tolerance and in pursuance of the directives of the leadership."

Going beyond the call of duty, the police ensured that the expat would get all the help he needed.

"Othman was in dire need of a surgery," Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said.

The resident was too scared to undergo such a critical operation away from his loved ones so he wanted to have it done back in his hometown in India.

However, considering his condition, flying out of the country posed a serious threat to his life.

The RAK Police then went the extra mile and brought his parents to the UAE, all expenses paid. They also settled Othman's hospital bills.

The surgery took seven hours, Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said. "The operation, carried out at Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah, was - thanks to Allah - a big success, and Othman is getting better."

High-ranking officers recently visited the farmer at the hospital.

"You are one of us," they told Othman.
