Just a few final touches left and Ras Al Khaimah's New Year's Eve fireworks show will be ready to make jaws drop tonight. The emirate has promised to deliver a spectacular pyrotechnic display at a scale never attempted before, with two new Guinness World Records to smash.
One world record it is set break is the use of the most unmanned aerial vehicles launching fireworks simultaneously, with 190 drones firing at the same time. The second will be a spellbinding show of the 'longest firework waterfall', with fireworks hung on wires spanning a length of 4,000m. The current record is held by Fukuoka, Japan, at 3,517m.
Every aspect of the show is being fine tuned to perfection. With all the grand elements being put together, the crowd on Al Marjan Island - the main event venue - can expect a sky spectacle that is longer than the average displays.
A spokesperson for the organising committee of RAK NYE 2020 said that despite Ras Al Khaimah's previous record-breaking firework successes, this year's spectacle will be "on another level" in terms of scale.
"While the Ras Al Khaimah New Year's Eve Gala has set Guinness World Records in the past two years, this year, the two record bids are first of their kind, ensuring a magnificent display. We are lending the final touches to the preparation and we are working closely with the adjudicators to ensure that the show will be unlike any other," the spokesperson said.
In addition to the fireworks display, the Ras Al Khaimah New Year's Eve Gala features a wide range of activities for people of all ages. One of the highlights is the gala dinner that will be headlined by multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and fashion icon Najwa Karam and celebrity singer Waleed Al Shami. There are also activities that will keep children engaged until the final countdown.
Al Marjan Island will have several new viewing positions, while additional platforms are located in Al Hamra.
