A 20-year-old Emirati was killed after the car he was driving rammed a water tanker in Ras Al Khaimah's Azan area, police said on Thursday.
Brig Ahmad Al Sam Al Naqbi, director of Traffic and Patrols Department at RAK Police, said they were alerted to the collision at 8.30am on Wednesday.

"The initial enactment of the collision showed that the Emirati victim was driving on the road's hard shoulder when he was caught off guard and crashed into a water tanker parked on the left side of the road," he said. "The tanker is being used to water the plants along the road."
The young motorist tried to avoid the crash, to no avail, Brig Al Naqbi added. "The victim died on the spot because of the impact."
His body was moved to the morgue at Saqr hospital, while the traffic accident file was referred to the authorities concerned for legal action.
Brig Al Naqbi urged all drivers to keep their eyes on the road, observe speed limits, and follow all traffic rules and regulations.
