When will UAE celebrate Ramadan, Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha in 2027? Likely dates revealed
Faithful across the country can take note of the likely dates to plan how they observe the holy occasions next year

The UAE's Astronomy Centre has revealed likely dates for major Islamic events in 2027, corresponding to 1448 AH in the Islamic calendar. Faithful across the country can take note of the likely dates to plan how they observe the holy occasions next year.
In the Hijri calendar, months last either 29 or 30 days, depending on when the moon is sighted. This monthly activity is undertaken by the UAE's Moon sighting committee, which then helps decide important dates and occasions so that residents can prepare in advance.

Ramadan 2027
The crescent at the end of the month of Shaban is likely to be sighted either on Saturday, February 6, 2027, or Sunday, February 7, 2027.
According to the Astronomy Centre, the crescent moon will be impossible to see from several parts of the world, including the UAE because the moon sets before the sun and/or because the conjunction occurs after sunset. Therefore, the month on Shaban will last for 30 days, which means Ramadan is expected to begin on February 8, 2027 in the UAE.
In 2026, Ramadan began on February 18. The holy month, observed by Muslims across the globe, shifts by 10 to 12 days every year.
Eid Al Fitr 2027
Eid Al Fitr is celebrated on the first three days of the Hijri month of Shawwal. The likely dates of Eid Al Fitr in 2027 will depend on how long Ramadan lasts. The UAE will possibly sight the Shawwal crescent either on Monday, March 8, 2027, or Tuesday, March 9, 2027, according to the Astronomy Centre.
If the Shawwal crescent is sighted on the evening of Ramadan 29 (March 8), Eid Al Fitr will begin on Tuesday, March 9. If the crescent is not sighted and Ramadan lasts 30 days, Eid Al Fitr will begin on Wednesday, March 10 in UAE.
Eid Al Adha 2027
Eid Al Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of the last month of the Hijri calendar — Dhul Hijjah. It falls a day after the Day of Arafah (Dhul Hijjah 9), which is considered to be the most holy day in Islam.
In 2027, the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon is likely to be sighted in UAE either on Thursday, May 6, or Friday, May 7, the Astronomy Centre said. This will mean the month will either begin on May 7 or 8 next year, making Eid Al Adha likely on Sunday, May 16 or Monday, May 17, 2027.

It is impossible to see the crescent from the areas located under the red colour, because either the Moon on this day sets before the sunset and/or the topocentric conjunction occurs after the sunset.
The crescent is expected to be seen by optical aid only from the areas located under the blue colour.
The crescent is expected to be seen by optical aid from the areas located under the magenta color. In these areas, the crescent could also be seen by the naked eye if the atmospheric conditions are superb and the observer is experienced.
The Day of Arafah will likely be on May 15 or 16, depending on which day in May ultimately becomes the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah.
The holy occasion is celebrated by Muslims around the world coming together to remember the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. Cattle is sacrificed and distributed among the needy. The nine days leading up to the festival are also spent in remembrance of God and spirituality.
On the Day of Arafah, a fast is observed by most faithfuls, except for those performing Hajj. This journey is usually observed between the 8th and 12th or 13th of Dhul Hijjah.
Muharram 2027
A new year in the Hijri calendar begins on the first day of Muharram. Based on the likely moon-sighting days in 2027 according to the Astronomy Centre, one can also calculate the expected first day of Muharram, the first month of Islamic year 1449 AH.
If Dhul Hijjah begins on May 7, 2027, and lasts 29 days, Muharram is expected to begin on Saturday, June 5, 2027. It will start on Sunday, June 6 if the crescent is not sighted and the month lasts 30 days.
On the other hand, if Dhul Hijjah begins on May 8, 2027, and lasts 29 days, Muharram is expected to begin on Saturday June 6, 2027. If the month lasts 30 days, the new Islamic year will begin on June 7, 2027.
