RAK Police to have their first women CID officers

Ras Al Khaimah - A three-month course will educate the trainees about the punitive, procedural and criminal laws.

Women criminal investigation officers will soon be joining the ranks of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, and they are going to be the first female cops in the team.
Brigadier Jamal Ahmad Al Tair, director-general of the resources and assistant services at the RAK Police, said 14 female staff members have started their training and are now taking up the 'Profession Criminal Investigator' course.
"Female cops have become an indispensable pillar in police work and the entire security system in the country," Brig Al Tair said.
He said the three-month course will educate the trainees about the punitive, procedural, and criminal laws, along with criminology, psychology and other relevant sciences. They will also learn about the best ways to handle crime scenes and gather evidence.
"An investigator needs to review the evidence to piece together a chain of events. One must also understand how to investigate a crime without overlooking the evidence or inadvertently destroying them," Brig Al Tair said.
"In addition, experienced investigators should learn how to properly interview suspects and witnesses."
