The Eid Al Fitr holiday saw 546 traffic accidents at different parts of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, a record number in years, despite repetitive awareness campaigns.
The accidents include seven serious and 539 minor.
Col Ahmed Abdurrahman Al Bagham, operations manager at the directorate general of central operations, RAK Police, said the holidays were busy days for his staff.
"The operations room received up to 2,648 calls during the four days on a variety of issues, from reports on traffic accidents, crimes, fire and general enquiries to irrelevant calls."
All calls were professionally attended to within a record time as per priority, he added.
"Col Al Bagham said the central operations room number is mainly dedicated for emergency cases. "Parents should keep an eye on their kids so they do not to dial the room by mistake," he added.
