Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty Kundra graced the 35th Sharjah International Book Fair on Thursday night in the 'intellectual hall' at Sharjah Expo centre.
The interactive session was in connection with her latest book "The Great Indian Diet-Busting the Big Fat Myth" which targets people who are looking for healthy lifestyle. The event was majorly attended by the women and college students and it started with a small video played on Shilpa Shetty's life so far in bollywood, yoga and reality shows with a collage of her pictures followed by questions from her fans.
The healthy session 'in conversation with Shilpa Shetty Kundra' was focused on 'health gain 'rather 'weight loss' and lasted for more than one hour. She has shared her personal journey of staying healthy and fit in her book and have also highlighted how she managed to loose around 28 kgs in 4 months. She said while interacting with her fans who were in awe of the star completely that "lot of people complain about not getting enough time for exercise or following a proper diet. I would suggest them to take out time for it because it's better to take out time later for ailments". She also encouraged kids and their mothers to stay away from aerated drinks and processed food as much as they can.
During the interaction when someone from the audience pointed out that he has a tendency of putting on weight whenever he eats ghee, Shilpa who is passionate for fitness and eating right food replied "you should always make sure to eat ghee in moderation. I eat 1 tablespoon of ghee in lunch with dal (pulses) or anything I am eating that time".
She added "if you are following a diet throughout the week and you are bored then you can cheat once in a week. On Sundays I usually eat Rasmalai, Rasgulla (Indian sweets) or Paani poori (Indian Street food) which I avoid otherwise. Honestly, I start cheating from Saturday evening onwards and binge on my favourite food".
Binju Shiju Jacob, a RJ from Gold 101.3 FM who was moderating the event told Khaleej Times, "I met her for the first time but was really impressed with her patience and the way she is promoting fitness. I think she is someone who has fair idea about food and diet. It's commendable that she has maintained herself so well throughout the years despite her pregnancy".
The super stylish and sleek actress who is also known as the biggest trendsetter in the fitness world confessed that she also faced lot of problems in loosing weight after pregnancy but that was not impossible.
Towards the end of the event when someone asked her in Bollywood whom she would like to gift her book. She threw the question back in the audience and most of the people shouted Rishi kapoor. In the end she signed the books and clicked pictures with her fans.
Her book "The Great Indian Diet-Busting the Big Fat Myth" was launched in May in Dubai.
