Painting donated to children of special needs centre

DUBAI - About 40 boys and girls of Grade XI of the Indian High School did canvas paintings with acrylics and donated them to the children of the Special Needs Families and Children Development Centre yesterday.

The special needs children; all dressed in red had a different Valentine's Day celebration with the Indian High School students showering them with their warmth and love. The group of 20 children were presented with paintings.

Open day

ABU DHABI - Thirty children with special needs joined another 400 girls and boys at an open day in the capital singing, drawing, playing and listening to music.

The special event for the children was organised at Khalifa Park in the capital on Wednesday by the Abu Dhabi Education Council and Zone in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Police.

“It's very important that special needs students mix up with children of other schools,” said Mubarak Al Shamsi, director general of ADEC.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Ahmed Ali Al Sherbas, a 13-year student of fifth grade said, “I am really happy to see all of us here at an open day like this.”

Islamic charity

RAS AL KHAIMAH - The Al Rahmah Charitable Organisation in Ras Al Khaimah has supported a number of charity projects in Uganda at an estimated cost of Dh1.5 million, said an official of the organisation. Speaking to Khaleej Times, the organisation's president, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Bakr, said a delegation from the UAE had recently visited Uganda to witness the accomplishment of a number of projects that have been established for support to the needy.
