More than 30,000 students will sit in the exams, which have been scheduled as one subject per day — Arabic on January 4, English on January 5, and Mathematics on January 6. Grade 10 students will take an additional general science exam on January 7.
Results of the test will be made available through an online portal to schools and students in one-two months, the council announced on Sunday.
EMSA test provides a benchmark to measure actual student progress against the standards and performance levels expected at each grade level.
The results will provide information and guidance for individual students and school faculty and administration on their performance compared to other students and schools throughout the emirate, allowing students to identify areas that require additional attention and helping teachers to reassess and develop their teaching programmes according to the specific needs of their students.
Director General of ADEC, Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, said, “In addition to supporting individual student learning, standardized testing is an important tool in providing data that will inform the direction and initiatives of ADEC’s 10-Year Strategic Plan.
“For example, EMSA testing has started to provide useful comparative data on the success of the PPP and Model school programs, and will help us evaluate the efficiency of our different programmes,” he said.
Students of Grades 10-12 write the exam in January and May, while those in Grades 3-9 sit in the exam in May.
