The Dubai Police on Sunday, September 29, announced launch of their e-crime platform on the police app. Previously, it was available only on the website. The new platform is now simpler, as it takes only three steps to file a report about an e-crime, said Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, director of the Criminal Investigation Department.
The platform was added to the Dubai Police virtual assistant 'Amena', which can help the user find whatever he is looking for by using simple words.
He added that the new platform will use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the user's experience and make it easier. He added that the number of queries and complaints increased when the police launched the service online, "because it encouraged the users to ask for information or even file a case as they knew their privacy would be protected".
As many as 14,132 queries and complaints were recorded on the platform till September 1 this year since it was rolled out on May 1, 2018. These included calls, reports or filing of cybercrime cases.
In the previous year, 1,694 queries and complaints were recorded during the same period, when the complainants had to go personally to a police station for the service.
Meanwhile, the police said the digital change reflects the efforts to provide easy and convenient services. Brig Jamal stressed that all calls, enquiries and reports filed are totally secure and kept confidential.
He said the new platform provides services that include completing the legal procedures, making a complaint or filing a report and providing information and support.
