Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the HCT, and Hussein Al Hammadi, director-general of Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IAT, signed the memorandum of understanding
on Sunday.

Established in 2005, IAT is an integrated and career-based technical education aimed at meeting the future technical and industrial needs of the UAE. IAT course programmes are offered to high school students, Grades 9 to 12, who specifically targets to become engineers, scientists or technicians.

“This agreement meets the aspiration of our prudent leadership of collaborative work among all educational institutions in order to achieve one common goal - that is promoting the technological and education system in the UAE to keep abreast with the highest international standards,”
commended Shaikh Nahyan.

With this agreement, both the HCT and IAT will link theoretical learning with practical education that would eventually lead to producing a new generation of Emirati graduates capable of competing globally.

In addition, students will be encouraged to further their education with the transfer of course credits to any HCT's bachelor degrees programmes, which translates into acknowledgement of prior learning, Al Hammadi said.

IAT's academic core courses include English, Mathematics, Science, Computer and Information Technology (CIT), Arabic, Islamic Studies, Citizenship and Life Skills, and Health and Physical Education.
