India has dismissed as fake a report claiming that New Delhi and Abu Dhabi were working on a pact to evacuate Indian citizens through Fujairah port.
MEA FactCheck, the official fact-checking account of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, issued a “Fake News Alert” on Monday, saying there was “no basis in fact” for the claim.
“There is no evacuation being planned,” the account said in a post on X, urging people to “stay alert against such false and baseless claims”.

The clarification came after a report claimed that India had signed, or was working on, an agreement with the UAE to use Fujairah port as part of an evacuation route for Indian workers. The report suggested that Indian nationals could be moved by ship from the UAE if regional tensions escalated and air travel was disrupted.
The MEA FactCheck account shared screenshots of the report, marking them as fake.

The post drew responses from users on X, with several calling for action against those spreading such claims.
“What actions was taken for misspread of information?” one user asked in response to the clarification.
Another said that merely issuing a denial was not enough. “Why don't they take strict action against these people for spreading Fake News? Just issuing a denial won't achieve anything,” the user wrote.
The warning comes amid heightened regional tensions, when unverified claims about travel, safety and evacuation plans can spread quickly online.
Authorities have repeatedly urged the public to rely only on official channels for updates, especially during periods of regional uncertainty. Residents have also been advised not to share unverified claims, as such posts can cause unnecessary concern among communities.
India has one of the largest expatriate communities in the UAE, with millions of Indian nationals living and working across the country. Updates related to their safety, travel and consular support are usually issued through official government and embassy channels.
