Mercy Petition Can Be Submitted to Seek Lifting of Life Ban

I have a life-time ban for flouting the residency rules of the UAE. I had overstayed my residence visa. Is there any way to get the ban lifted since all my family members are living in Sharjah?

From your letter I understand that you have an immigration ban on your passport. You may submit a mercy
petition to the immigration authorities to lift the life ban and it is entirely up to the authorities to consider your request.

I was working in a private company and was provided with a flat where I stayed for three years. I resigned and had an understanding that I can stay in the company flat. This is going on for more than two years. I am repaying the company the equivalent amount. Is this illegal? Can I approach the landlord and get the tenancy contract changed in my name? If so, can they charge more rent than the current rate?

Your stay in the previous company’s flat is a matter between you and that company. To change the tenancy contract in your name, you may approach your previous company management and they, in turn, will have to approach the landlord. The landlord may increase the rent because the rent cap is not applicable as you will become a new tenant as per the law.

I am working in a company with a residency visa for the past four months. I am planning to start a company of my own. If I want to transfer the visa to the new firm, is there a chance of an immigration ban?

While you are employed in a company, you may not start your own business without the prior permission of your employer.

If you resign from your company
before completing the tenure of your contract, your employer may impose a ban on you for violation of the
agreement.

My girlfriend, whom I am planning to marry, has been given a life ban due to her sponsor’s overreaction because she had absconded.

I have met the sponsor and he was happy to do whatever was necessary to lift the ban. I have had several meetings with the immigration officials and have no idea on what to do. Please, advise.

In my opinion, the only person who can help your girlfriend is her sponsor. The sponsor will have to withdraw his complaint against your girlfriend.

If this does not work, your girlfriend may approach the court for a redressal.
