The clean-up would be at the Al Mirfa public beach. Volunteers from all walks of life would be coming together to lend a helping hand.

The EAD calls on the public to join its next clean-up drive; people could register their names on the web site, www.ead.ae the release added.

Exposure of marine organisms to metals could result in toxic effects, including increased mortality, growth defects and reduced reproductivity.

Volunteers would join EAD staff members and employees from the following organisations: Emirates Technical Associates, Atkins, UAE Exchange, New Medical Centre, Al Jaber Construction Company, Takreer, Abu Dhabi National Hotels Company and Abu Dhabi Municipality.

Students, teachers and members of the community would also take part in the drive.
