A man has been ordered by the Personal Status Court in Ras Al Khaimah to pay house rent, including facility bills for 10 months, to his ex-wife, as well as his daughter's schools fees and a laptop.

As per court records, the case unfolded when the Arab woman filed a lawsuit against her former husband, a GCC national, and claimed custody of their three children. In her petition, the woman said her ex-husband refused to pay the house rent and daughter's school fees, including uniform and food expenses, following their divorce.

The defendant's defence lawyer told the court that the woman lodged the case to make money out of her ex-husband. "She is trying to exploit my client and get money from him against his consent." He noted that the salary of his client is hardly adequate for his own needs.

The court turned down the defence lawyer's petition, and ruled in favour of the woman, ordering the man to pay the rent, bills, and school fees.
