The police on Monday said they received a call at 6.50am from an Indian, who first spotted the body. They rushed with public prosecutors to the area opposite a hotel near Dubai Marina. Work on four bridges in the area had been completed, but work on the structure near where the accident occurred is going on, and the site is closed to the public.

Police said that the British national worked as an advertisement manager with a media company. He was on his way to his apartment from a hotel. On the bridge, he realised it was blocked and tried to turn back. Stuck in the middle, he tried to get down the structure and fell to death, said a police official. Preliminary investigation ruled out any criminal motive. He was trying to hang on to the railing or metal bars but fell down, the police said.
