An Asian man involved in an attempt to smuggle illegal drugs into the country was arrested by Dubai Police.
The 23-year-old man was attempting to smuggle 888.31 grams of drugs through Dubai airport. Following his arrest, the man was referred to the Public Prosecution.
Documents show the case dating back to October 5, 2020 when the man was entering the UAE through Dubai airport. Authorities discovered that he was carrying 101 pills containing a yellow substance.
The pills were sent for checking and testing, after which the substance was revealed to be heroin – an illegal drug as per the UAE Criminal Code.
The man confirmed to committing the crime after being shown the test results. His case was referred to the Public Prosecution, which submitted the case to the Criminal Court.
