Major fire in Qusais building
A major fire erupted yesterday at 1am in the third floor apartment in Al Qassimi building in Qusais area in Dubai.
One of the tenants immediately informed the Operations Room of Dubai Civil Defence that heavy smoke was seen coming from the flat whose residents were not available at the time.
Six fire-fighting vehicles rushed to the fire site where the Civil Defence brigade managed to put out the fire.
The Civil Defence has cut electricity and water to prevent the fire from extending to the building and evacuated all the tenants. The flat contents were totally damaged and the corridor of the third floor was also affected. Some of the tenants who were affected by the smoke were given first aid and no causalities were reported. Civil Defence officials told Khaleej Times that water and electricity were brought back after power was disconnected for more than seven hours.
