The eighth edition of 'Swiss Days Dubai 2016' will be held in February, and for the first time Emirati oud player , Faisal Al Saari, will attend it as a special guest with a new piece of music composed in collaboration with Lucerne-based pianist Luzia Von Wyl.
The announcement was made during a news briefing by the Consul-General of Switzerland in Dubai, Chris Watts and Swiss Art Gate UAE general-manager Kurt Blum on Wednesday.
"Swiss Days are an incredible success story that dates back to 2009. It provides a platform for cultural exchange between Switzerland and the UAE," the consul-general said.
Khaleej Times and New York Times are media partners of the event along with other supporters. The two-day event will be held at Madinat Theatre Jumeirah on February 5 and 6. Tickets are priced at Dh50 per day.
Unveiling the details of the event, Blum said the first day's attraction would be Baccala Compagnia, where two modern-day clowns play out their unique and hilarious pas de deux through the universal language of gesture and expression.
On the second day, the Luzia Von Wyl Ensemble makes their UAE debut with a concert in featuring a 10-strong band.
