Liverpool Football Club's International Academy has launched its much-awaited full-time coaching programme in the UAE with English College and GEMS First Point School - The Villa becoming the first local schools to sign up for the scheme run by the British football giants.
Designed primarily to provide young players with the opportunity to learn to play 'The Liverpool Way', the youth coaching project in the UAE has been developed in collaboration with PESCO, a Dubai-based sports and events management company. The programme will initially focus on schools in Dubai but will be eventually expanded to train youngsters within a network of schools in the UAE.
Leslie Hamilton of the academy said: "We are committed to provide quality education through academic excellence and an all-round development that covers the diverse aspirations and interests of children. We are delighted to be a part of this project by Liverpool FC and see this more than a sporting programme, as one that would help mould our children into responsible citizens."
Coaches have been flown into Dubai all the way from Liverpool to impart the unique coaching method to youngsters between the ages of 7 and 15, who will now have the opportunity to improve their football skills and develop in the technical, tactical, physical and social aspects of the game through age-specific coaching sessions.
The coaching programme in the UAE is the latest addition to Liverpool FC's well-established network of International Academies around the world. In the UAE, the project is being managed by PESCO, which has opened a representative office on behalf of Liverpool FC in Dubai in Al Barsha.
