UAE rulers wish residents, pray for regional peace on Hijri New Year

Dubai's Ruler wished for every year to bring 'peoples safety, security, peace, stability, and prosperity'

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed wished people on the occasion of Hijri New Year 1447, while paying for lasting peace in the region on Thursday, June 26.

Taking to X, the leader offered his congratulations to Muslims across the globe. "Congratulations to the people of the UAE and Muslims everywhere on the occasion of Hijri New Year.

"I pray that the year ahead brings lasting peace and stability to the region and the world, and advances progress and prosperity for all," he added.

Meanwhile, Dubai's Ruler also wished people on the blessed occasion.

"We congratulate the Arab and Islamic nation on the new Hijri year 1447 … We ask Allah that it be a year of goodness, blessings, and prosperity. May every year bring you more beauty .. May every year bring better days .. May every year bring our peoples safety, security, peace, stability, and prosperity," said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The UAE announced a public holiday on Friday, June 27, for the occasion. Most residents will get a three-day weekend, with normal working hours resuming from Monday, June 30.

Motorists will also enjoy free parking on Friday due to the public holiday. Meanwhile, Dubai Metro will operate on Friday, June 27, from 5am to 1am the following day (June 28); while Dubai Tram will run from 6am on June 27 until 1am (June 28).

UAE's astronomy centre also shared images of the crescent as it was spotted on Thursday morning in Abu Dhabi.
