Karachi Darbar group founder chairman dies

Dubai - The group has been running a chain of restaurants in the UAE for the last 40 years.

Haji Mohammed Farooq, the founder of Pakistan's popular chain of restaurants Karachi Darbar, passed away in Dubai on Friday.

Due to his sudden death, all branches of Karachi Darbar in the UAE will remain closed for two days and will open to customers on November 7.

According to details, Haji Farooq fell ill suddenly and was rushed to Rashid Hospital but he did not survive.

Following his death, a number of notable Pakistani expatriates have expressed their grief and said that Haji Farooq was very patriotic and had worked for the benefit of the Pakistani community in the UAE.

"He was someone who popularized the Pakistani cuisine in the UAE among all the expatriate population," said Mohammed Sadiq, a Pakistani expatriate based in Dubai. "He will be missed."

The group has been running a chain of restaurants in the UAE for the last 40 years.
