There are around 98 countries taking part in the biggest edition of the Dubai Airshow. The show will also have 20 country pavilions.
Israeli media earlier reported that Israel will not take part in the Dubai Airshow this year.
“Defence is a huge part of the Dubai Airshow. It is probably 40 per cent to 50 per cent of the show, in some respects. We have 98 countries represented from around the world and a fantastic group of defence showcases on display. Israeli companies won't be participating as part of the exhibition. We have over 20 country pavilions and state pavilions that will have displays, whether it's commercial defence or in other areas,” Hawes said while replying to a question about Israeli participation during the press briefing.
In 2023, the 18th edition of Dubai Airshow recorded more than $101 billion in deals.
Hawes elaborated that deals this year have “started to take shape at the moment”, but there will be visibility on the value and volume of deals closer to the show, which will run from November 17 to 21 at the Dubai Airshow Site at Dubai World Central.
“Given the size of the growth of the event, the expansion, and the growth of the international companies, Dubai Airshow is the platform where companies are now signing the deals. So, we do expect it to be a very fruitful week in terms of contracts and book orders,” he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the aircraft on display, he said one of the unique parts of the airshow in Dubai, compared to other events around the world, is that people will see all of the major manufacturers showcasing their aircraft during the space of the week.
“That's not something that you see anywhere else around the world at the moment, so Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Embraer, and all other companies will be showcasing not just one but multiple aircraft,” the managing director of Informa said.
He added that the Chinese commercial aircraft manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac) will also be showcasing for the first time.
“It's great to have a Chinese manufacturer come into the region to show off multiple aircraft. So, we do expect to have a fantastic lineup of military aircraft, a huge array, the biggest ever wide-body display we would have in terms of commercial aircraft. We also have the exciting opportunity to see some of the world's players in terms of eVTOL, also showcased. So, if you are looking at aircraft, this will be the only place in the world you will see all of these stacked up in one static display. It will be a fantastic showcase,” he added.
